1 Month contract

The ideal candidate will be an experienced performance test analyst, with decent PM skills, can think outside the box and needs to know more than just performance testing as you will need to coincide testing with other deliverables running at the same time – so work with 3rd party suppliers.

Skilled in performance, load, stress and volumetric testing, able to produce scripts and execute, have VB knowledge to allow load generation via excel, and be able to produce and execute scripts from limited requirements specs.

Main aim of the role is to provide a simulated stress load on the core application screens.  They will have 260 users on the system from 30/11/09, with a peak concurrent usage estimated at 150 users.   The underlying server deployment has been spec’d anticipating this load, but there is still a gap of validating this with the application screens.

The application will be used to manage the processing of insurance claims, and there are probably five key functional areas that would be heavily used after go-live: - so ability to risk assess and prioritise is a must

All users will access the application using Internet Explorer (currently IE7), with about 100 users accessing over the WAN (currently 7Mbps line).  The application is a J2EE based web app, running on IBM Websphere 6.1 ND edition and the underlying  database is MS-SQL Server 2005 – so therefore have SQL skills

Web based apps, so must have web based performance testing skills – and be able to work from UAT scripts for example to generate End to End scenarios.

Applicants must be able to prove understanding of and read diagrammatical schemas and server build details – good knowledge of Hyper V clusters and server storage systems – preferably HP.  Should be able to produce an end result of a process and strategy that can be used for future application testing.
